Help with starting a birthmom support group?

I am interested in starting a support/meeting group for birthmoms in Portland, Oregon. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might do this?
Well, I would hope there is a pregnancy care center in Portland somewhere, you could ask them if they could host you and provide advice.
Also, you could call adoption agencies and ask them if they have any support groups that they refer clients too.
I would also hope that you have professional support for this support group.
Some churches may be helpful in providing a place to have the meetings as well.
What are your goals in creating this support group?
Hi. I would love to be part of this with you. I am a therapist in private practice who would also like to contribute to supporting birthparents in Portland. I’d love it if you get in touch with me and we can talk about how to make this happen!

There’s a birthmom buds group on the internet (I used to read a blog by the woman who started it). I’d suggest searching for that (and other online groups) and see if you can contact anyone about starting a group in real life.
I started a birthparent-organized, birthparent-facilitated support group in Ohio that has been going strong for over 2 years now. It’s unaffiliated with any agency or religious group, which has been an important part of creating a strong and accessible birthparent community. Feel free to email me at ohiobirthparents@gmail.com
We can spread the word to our many Portland-based Talkline volunteers, and we also highly recommend talking to Meg above – she is a former Backline volunteer and a continued ally who would be a great resource.
Thanks for the kind words. We’ve made contact with each other and hopefully will get something going!
