Seeking Birth Parents to Interview

I received this in my email this morning and wanted to share, please feel free to forward!

Gretchen Sisson, a doctoral student at Boston College’s department of sociology, is seeking birth/first parents in the to interview for her thesis. The project hopes to examine the social factors that influence adoption plans, the birth parent’s feelings about the adoption, and the impact that the adoption has had on the birth parent’s life. Anyone over 18 years old who has placed a child for adoption is eligible to participate; those who are involved in open adoptions are especially encouraged to share their stories.

Interviews are usually between 1.5 and 2 hours long. If you live in the New England area, interviews can be conducted at a location of your choice, otherwise interviews will be over the phone or via Skype. All stories are kept confidential, and the final report will have all identifying information removed. Additionally, all participants will be given a copy of the final report to which they helped contribute.

If you are interested in participating or have any questions, please contact Gretchen at gesisson@gmail.com or 413.221.8799. Thank you for your interest!
